Hello all,

I am a digital photography novice and looking for your opinion.I recently got a Canon SD 700 IS from ButterflyPhoto.com.The only thing wrong with the camera is it had one dead pixel on the LCD.

Is it worth returning the camera?

(I looked at Best Buy and Circuit City, and both the demo models did not have this problem.)

Thanks for your advice

Sure, why do you want to live with a sub-optimal camera ???

Are they refusing to replace the camera ??? or at least change the LCD ???

I think one or two dead pixels is considered normal, given the difficulty ofmanufacturing panels. If I'm not mistaken this is mentioned in the manual. It's no big deal since it doesn't show in the picture, and it wouldn't bother me too much, but I your comfort level may differ and I understand you wanting a flawless camera - because it could affect resale value.

I would considera fewdead pixels on the LCD to be a very minor issue not worth bringing to anyone's attention let alone returning the camera over.

One thing I do want to suggest is that it seems thatmany of the SD700's and similar Canon models have a little blurring at one or more extreme corners, more noticeable at widest angle and which corner varies from oneunit to another. This one is a bit subjective to evaluate, in some cases returning the camera is in order.

Sample shots (I did not return mine):
