I just got a Canon IXUS 800 IS for my dad. It's a great camera, but I have one concern about the unit I got:
My camera constantly makes this faint strange electronic sounding noise. If I put the camera up to my ear, it's very obvious. It's almost as if you can hear the electronic bits coursing through the wires like it's "thinking".
It only does this when the lense is extended. But it doesn't matter whether it's in Play mode or any of Shooting modes. It also doesn't matter what setting I put the IS on.
Any SD700IS users out there that can confirm whether your camera does the same thing? I just hope I'm not getting a lemon.

Mine is doing this aswell as saying corrupt data on the screen. when I take pictures.

This is dissapointing considering the good reviews and my past experience with canon, I just hope like you I havent wasted my money!
