My Canon A70 camera appears to have died. (The LCDview finder no longer shows any views) I assume this will be an expensive thing to fix (if anybody thinks otherwise let me know.)

Therefore I think I need to look at the newer Canon's.

There are so many to choose from.

Can someone advise me which camera would most closelymatch the features that I have now?

I like the size/wt and the use of AA batteries withmy currentcamera.

Also,I realize that any new Canon camera that I buy would have more than the 3.1 meg pixels that I have now.

I am looking to replace my A70, also. (Underwater housing wasn't quite as waterproof as I had hoped.) I have shopped hard and I like the A540. Six megapixels (up from 3), 4x lens (up from 3x), 2.5 inch LCD (up from 1.8 inch), and yet all the controls are pretty similar and, best yet, all those manual options still available. Software and processors are upgraded. Looks like gem to me.

Take a look at it - personally, I am just waiting for my next paycheck.
