A gift to my daughter for Christmas was a Casio Z600 camera. She notifies me today that about a week ago the camera is broken. I see that a red light in the front continues to illuminate. Looking through the manual I am assuming this is at AF Assist option. I go to the menu to make sure the option is off and still it stays on. The main issue with this on is the flash will not work! I have made sure the flash option is not set to off. I also downloaded new firmware (1.02) but with no success in correcting the problem.

I will be calling Casio service tomorrow. We leave for Europe in 2 weeks and she is dissapointed that this camera may not be operating correctly. On top of that the warranty will expire within days. I'm looking for as much info as I can get.

So my question(s):

Has anyone experienced this? If so, any remedies?

What is everyones experience been with Casio servece? Fast turn around time?

Father of dissapointed daughter.
