CASIO EXILIM Z3 LENS ERROR

Hello,

I bought a Casio Exilim Z3 three days ago and now it is already showing me the message: LENS ERROR. It even doesn't shut on.
Has anyone an idea what to do?

My camera started doing that a month after I got it. "Lens Error" and it wouldn't shut or open sometimes. I had to help if several times and eventually sent it back to Casio under warranty. I had to PAY to ship it back. For weeks I called and was told eventually that it would be replaced. 10 weeks later it came to me and wouldn't even power up, same busted camera. I ended up sending it back for good and they have promised me a refund including all my shipping costs. Now I have a Canon SD100 and it is so much better, minus the 3x zoom.

I've been repairing [highlight= #ffff88]CASIO[/highlight] Cameras for many years. Lately, I've seen lots of [highlight= #ffff88]CASIO[/highlight] users with [highlight= #88ffff]lens[/highlight] problems. It took me a little while to figure out what was causing the problem, but it seems I've got the answer.

Problem: [highlight= #88ffff]Lens[/highlight] [highlight= #88ff88]error[/highlight].

Symptom: [highlight= #88ffff]Lens[/highlight] will not extend upon power up.

Cause: [highlight= #88ffff]Lens[/highlight] is impeded while trying to extend.
This is usually caused by one of two circumstances. (1) The user dropped the camera while the [highlight= #88ffff]lens[/highlight] was extended causing a mechanical failure. (2) The [highlight= #88ffff]lens[/highlight] attempts to extend while in a pouch or pocket without the user's knowledge. This usually happens when the user is carrying the camera with the battery in. When/if the REC button or power button is pressed accidentally, the [highlight= #88ffff]lens[/highlight] will attempt to extend but can't. This causes the servo motors to "smoke".

Solution: Replace the [highlight= #88ffff]lens[/highlight] assembly. This should only be done by a qualified tech.
If you've experienced this you know exactly what I mean. This should clear up any notion that the "[highlight= #88ffff]Lens[/highlight] Gods" have cursed you. Although this may have appeared to be a mystery, it's always caused by something!

Hello Skelly,

I have a Casio Exilim Z55 that had a broken len. I sent it in for repair and after the replacing the lens, the guy said it worked OK. He even took some pictures and it was fine. After he shut it off and turn it back on again he got lens error on the display. Since then, it did not work any more. He said that the LCD is not getting the correct voltage. What do you think could be gone wrong? What the problem might be the problem? Thanks

Hello.

My father spilled beer on our Casio Ex-Z40. We were recieving that 'lens error' message. We read about ***************** on one of the message boards. I sent Tim our camera, and he was quick with a fair estimate. We sent him a check, and he had the camera repaired in a few days. It is as good as new.
