Default Cassio Exilim EX-S12 - Zoom Capabilities

I've just picked up my trusty exilim, which I have been using for about 4 months, when I noticed it is now allowing a zoom capability of 18.7 times, when the maximum stated and has been only 4 times.

I haven't changed any settings or made any mods so I am perplexed as to why it is now zooming to 18.7 times, I mean this is great but i would like to know how this has happened so I can repeat the process!

Has anyone any idea what has happened or is this a standard feature I haven't been aware of....

all comments great fully received.

Default I think you are using digital zoom

For still shots, the optical zoom for that camera is 3X. The digital zoom is 4X. If you combine the two, you get 12x zoom (though image quality will suffer). In video mode set at VGA resolution, you can go to 18.7X total zoom.
