Hi Selvin
I really liked your photo but felt it deserved to be better with tighter cropping and a blurry background. So I hope you don't mind me posting this new version that I done in Photoshop. It wasn't that easy to blur the background with all those fine details in the flower but I'm fairly happy with the result. If I had more time it might be better. Maybe a bit zealous on the saturation? What do you think?

regards
Martin.

Impressive rework, nice shot te begin with.
You can do so much in processing it's mindboggling.

Greetings,
Frank

Martin,
That was quite an impressive job of post shot work.
I'm a bit torn between the original and rework, and it's exactly the point you raised about the saturation.

The blurring of the background did actually cross my mind but didn't think about doing it.

During the initial bloom the flower actually looks like your rework so from that standpoint, you're a Picasso. However, I can't still get rid of the gnawing voice in my head that says, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature."

Regardless of my inner moral dilemna, great work. Thanks.

Selvin
Glad you liked my effort! As for your 'moral dilemma', I know how you feel because if I had taken this photo and then had to edit it this much to get it to look how I wanted, I would certainly feel like I had cheated! There are times when I feel ok doing major editing in Photoshop if I am trying to be creative with an image to achieve something that could not be achieved through the lens of my camera alone. In this case I would prefer to try and retake the photo because less DOF could be achieved through the lens, at least with my camera.

regards
Martin.
