The filter you mentioned was that a lens filter or software filter...like in adobe.and the shots are excellent! Donna

oops, sorry - didn't notice the post Donna.

The filter? Deconvolution filter was used - this is software. It's a kind of "reverse blur", some "advanced sharpening" filters/PS plugins use this technique too.

Much better results than the average "sharpen" - less artifacts and a better overall image quality. Is a bit tricky with noisy images, though.

OH MY GOD
These are beautiful! I like the second one, but I also like how the first one doesn't have a shallow-ish DOF, it looks great the way it is! NICE JOB!!! Captureing REAL nature!
