So we got some fog yesterday and the temperature dropped... over night everything was put into a nice hoarfrost coating. The cobwebs, the trees and also the flowers.

I took some quick photos and found they really look beautiful but needed a bit more DOF... so the second attempt was made with a tripod at bad light, very cloudy so everything looked a bit pale.

I took the pictures in RAW and cranked up the saturation so you can see what it would have looked like with a bit more sunlight - it is almost not real as my daughter said... but then - I can go out and see for myself that these flowers are there. A deconvolution filter was used to make the flowers look as "crispy" as they are in real life - it's almost as if they were candied and the sugar crystallizes at the blossoms. Believe it or not - it really looks that way!

ISO 200, 1/4s, f/9.5, 33mm, Pentax *ist DL2 with kit lens (18-55mm) - ENJOY.

Yours,
Th.

Another one from the first, handheld series. Taken as JPEG, ISO 800, 1/60s, f/9.5, 50mm- cropped, resized and again a slight deconvolution filter to show that filigree ice on the rose. Is this a sleeping beauty or what?

Don't ask me why my roses choosed to bloom at Christmas... but you can see that the plant louses really like it

Really nice work!!! Your 2nd shop is my fave however both are really good and something a little different. Your edits are good and not over the top so still look real.

Thank you

I am used to post-process the photos my Oly C770 gives me so the Pentax *ist DL2 is ... ummm... different. All that possibilities with RAW, the somewhat confusing softness I get from the dSLR (but no in-camera sharpening artefacts, which is very nice) - I have to get the hang on using my image editing tools again...

Also prints come out very different. Anyway - the more I use it the better photos I (hopefully) get.

Yours,
Th.

Both of those are very nice and the second shot has a near macro look to it. The Pentax kit lens gives a good accounting of itself.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I was able to print #1 on A4 with my Canon Inkjet and it makes a stunning picture! But I am unsure... black or white border/frame? Both have advantages and disadvantages... any ideas? What would you choose?

At the moment I tend to white/very light grey for #1 and black or a very dark grey for #2.
