Torgny, I missed this post of yours earlier... a truly appropriate and excellent homage.

In biology, every now and then someone proposes changing the nomenclature to "something more modern."

And it always fails. The binomial nomenclature of Linneaus continues to rule.

The Barbarian

Yes, but when you speak to them, they often don´t seem to like admitting this fact
(little grin)

Not 100% comfortably(?) anyhow (very little grin)

Sorry to hear that you didn´t like "botany" in school.

No, I am not a botanist but I have some knowledge of plants (and birds). They are of vital importance for the planet´s survival.

This Carl von Linné (Carolus Linneaus) is the great name-giver of plants and other living existenses. Look at it this way: You get to know a person, then you want to know his or her name.

Something happens in a relation when you know the name, when you say the name. You can have relations to plants, not only to people. It is also convenient when you talk about them

"Hello, Daffodil, come on. Don´t be shy"

But I am one of those who walk around in nature; in the foot-steps of Carl von Linné, trying to keep up, and we are many. You and everybody else are invited. It is quite a walk

#5 and #11 are my favorites, beautifully done. I can hardly wait until the flowers start blooming here.
