Test shots. . This is much harder than I thought. . .But I'm going to have fun practicing. .

The first thing I notice about the lens is the slow auto focusing. Not as fast as the Sigma 70-200 2.8. Hunts quite a bit, but when it locks, it's on. Took some other non macro photos and the pics are very, very nice. I'm keeping the lens.

I have had this lens for almost a year and I love it. I used it a Nikon D70 until a few months ago when I upgraded to the D80. I have not notice the hunting that you mentioned but I absolutely agree that it's a keeper. Keep posting pics as you progress.

Here are a couple from that same lens that I took.
All the best,
Steve

Those are some really nice photos there Smac.

This lens is unbelievably sharp. Now that I think about it. I was using the Sigma 150 with extension tubes. That might have been what was causing the hunting issue. I'll have to shoot some without tubes.

Yep, extension tubes and teleconverter will definetly slow the focus down. I know you are going to really enjoy this lens as much as I have.

Speaking of telconverters, the sigma 150mm macro will not autofocus to 1:1 and is totally manual focus with a 2X TC. But, it is a very nice lens!!! i kept mine!

Beautiful results with that lens, both of you. Must go learn more about it.
