Default Some (more) photo's of bees

After I bought my Canon powershot A70 I, of course, wanted to try it out. So I went into the garden to take some pictures of flowers. One particular kind of flower had some bees on it and I decided to try to photgraph them. Some of the pictures came out pretty good.
I particularly liked this one

The others can be viewed on http://arjo.fotopic.net/

Any comments, suggestions etc.?

Nice to see you're enjoying your new camera. My only suggestions would be to crop the photo so that the bee is what the viewer is drawn to. You could also apply some USM (photoshop) to sharpen the photo a bit.
Happy shooting

hey. congrats to your new cam.
The pictures are really good for the beginning!
But jazcan is right. you'd better cropped the part of the flower.
BTW: That seems to be a bumble-bee on your photos

EDIT: Try the P-Mode with the macro mode to do such shots.
So, the auto focus will focus on the object and everything around will be blurred.
You can also get that effect, using F2.8 and 1/500 in manual mode.
But of course you have to try out yourself

Ah, and one more thing: Be brave! The macro mode works really good at about 5cm (2 inch)

Hey thanks for the advice jazcan and kex!

I'm not sure it's a bumble bee, they are normally a bit bigger I think but it could be. There are also 1 or 2 pictures where I'm pretty sure it was a wasp. But for sure I'm not very good at recognizing them....

I think the one shown in the text is at about 5 cm, but in general it might be a good idea to "be brave" and get a little closer.

I'll try the settings you suggested.

And cropping was something I already tought about myself. But I thought showing you the whole picture would give a bit more information. But it sure will look better if cropped.

Thanks again for the advice!

Default Some cropped pictures

I followed the advice to crop some of my pictures. I didn't do the bee-photo's (yet) but a picture of a Swan and something like a Crow. Who wants to see them can find them here:

Besides cropping I also brushed them up a little, meaning I removed some unwanted items. I included the originals so everyone can see what I did. Any comments?
