These are leaf scarstalen from a portion of a 6x9 inch piece ofthestem of an extinctLepidodendron, a 350 million year old fossil of a Coal Age tree-like plantwhichmight have grown to over 100 feet in height in what is now the state ofIowa (this image entered in the Pentax Forum monthly competition for April).

In my house (part of our collection of odds and ends)! It is a museum reproduction, not an original specimen, although we do have some original coal fossils (my wife used to teach Paleobotany).
