Default the fallen

All the colors of the season in a single leaf... the wet, blustery weather we've had lately dropped this brilliant example of nature's artwork literally right on my doorstep... well, actually, on my deck, but only a few feet from the back door... 5D, Tammy 24-135 @ 41mm, 8 seconds @ f/13 with remote shutter release...

Default I like it very much.

A powerful, strong photo - it hits you in the eye (in a positive way, squirl033!).

Great color and composition. Daring format - but the only one right for it. Straigt lines dissapearing tops and one single diagonal by the leaf.
Nice job!

I REALLY like this! Sometimes less is more and this is one of those times. Bravo.

i hadn't really looked at i that way, Ordo... rather a morbid perspective, but technically accurate, if only with respect to the leaf. after all, the tree that sheds the leaf lives to bloom again in spring... a fallen leaf really doesn't represent "death" any more than the outgrown, discarded skin of a snake...

Plus the leaf provided you with a great opportunity. Well executed.
Looks like the rain has begun in earnest up there. Send some our way, we really need it.

Ditto! Both isolates and gives a context. Different textures... Sheesh - Wonderful!

Beautiful capture...wonder if taking a bit of the deck away from the top would draw you more to the leaf and it's beauty??? I like it none the less. Thanks for sharing.

you know, i thought about that briefly, but decided that letting the image fade into dark shadows at the top effectively keeps your attention on the leaf - and it also preserves the image format for printing.
