The last is a definite bee.

Nice shots Acapulco. Some people should have a camera in their hands and you are one.

That last one is a bee, now that I've studied it... I only had that shot of it and hadnt seen it from another angle so I made the conclusion it was a wasp... Also since I haven't seen any bees as of yet this year...

Bynx - Thanks a lot for that compliment ! You too are a person that should have a camera at all times ! And you can take a bad picture since you're a genius inside Photoshop !

Bees and wasps have four wings, flies have two plus two halteres (rudimentary hind wings) which serve as balancers. If you look carefully beneath the wing in the first and fourth photos, you can see the little whiteish mallet shaped haltere very clearly.

It takes a great photograph to show those, and these are great photographs.

Antennae, feet, tongue, I still say the last is a honeybee. Its not a fly like I've ever seen before.

For the record, this is the last photo I'm talking about.

You are correct (I miscounted the photos and corrected the post). The last (fifth) is a bee - you can tell by the geniculate (elbowed) antennae. The beeflies in the first four photos have short, stubby antennae.
