Default a fly

A fly was sitting on a leaf in the garden. This was my first picture of an insect.... please comment

I think it's a good shot for first macro. I had somewhat the same results in my first attempts . To me it seems that the leaf is a bit more in focus, and catching my eye, than the fly. But that's just a comment of a beginner .

I usually get my better results with things bigger than a fly I have to say, because it's hard to put focus on the small thingies

You are right..... the fly was too small and he kept on moving so the focus has shifted to the leaf instade......Anyway thanks for the comment and I will keep in mind....

Hi, Hanalwala,
Very nice for a first try! There is quite a learning scale when you start shooting macros.
You will always have a very shallow DOF so, unless you do focus stacking you'll never get the whole image in focus.
I see you have the same flies over there as we do here. here is one of the first macro shots I took in 2008.
