Default 1st dragonflys

isnt it allways the way, i go out to take pics of birds in flight with my nikon 70-300 lense but the lake was calm, the birds wernt playing ball.
but i did see quite a few dragonflys whizzing around, of course my macro lense is at home in camera bag
so just for a laugh i snapped a few with the zoom lense, not expecting much to be honest, but when i looked at the pics at home i plesently surprised

what do you think?

2nd shot in particular is really nice. I don't know that lens but I do know some of the x to 300 zooms have a close-up function. The Tamron 70-300 especially has a 1:2 macro setting and makes a really excellent job of it.
