which lens is this? I like. I know how hard it can be to get shots like this, even if they are eating!

Yes, very hard, especially handholding a dslr with a dedicated macro lens (Canon 100mm f2.8 L IS USM) So narrow depth of field

This one was either a bit dizzy from alcohol (sugar processing in autumn) or simply a bit tired, I think

Don't know much about their lifespan but perhaps it was soon to "join its ancestors"
