Thats Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smith. The guy with his hand up their backsides was Paul Winchell.

I know he did voices for cartoons and the only one I know of was Tigr from Winnie the Poop. He also invented a heart before Christian Barnard put the first one in any patient.

You are correct!!

It's amazing to me that he had many patents for the the artificial art. It goes to show he was no "dummy".

I can't find that Barnard was involved in the development/use of artificial hearts although he was most certainly a heart transplant pioneer. Winchell's patent for an artificial heart was an early patent in the field (not the earliest however) and as he assigned the patent to the group that developed the first implantable heart his work seems to have contributed (IMO).

From Smurf Wiki

Held patents on over 30 devices, a flameless cigarette lighter, an invisible garter belt, a method of breeding Tilapia fish so that poorer countries could feed their citizens, and an indicator to show when frozen food had gone bad after a power outage. As for his major achievement, the artificial heart, which he built in 1963, was donated to the University of Utah for research. The first implant on a human happened in 1982.Paul Winchell invented the disposable razor which he neglected to get a patent on. when friends told him "Who would buy a razor just to throw it away?" Paul abandoned the idea, later to Winch's dismay, a major razor company proved Paul was right!
