Great photos!

I love the second one. I tried to achieve the black background effect yesterday but I was outdoors with a bright sun... my tries were complete failures... never got a completely black background

But I will keep trying until I get a great photo like this one

Thanks very much. I cheated. I used black velvet as the background.

Nice shot, Gary!! I love the colors and DOF in #1.

Rui - it's possible to get black (or close to black) background even in the sun. Make sure your subject is in the sun, and background is in the shade and preferably far away.

Or, if you can use your flash to isolate the subject.

well ... I can not criticize the creativity

No matter how you did it... what matters is how it looks

that is where I failed... the background was not far enough.
I used the slower photo i could... ISO 100, f22 and the faster shutter speed the camera allows (sync with flash) with flash to iluminate de blossom...

But the flash light reached the background and never got a true black one

I will keep trying

Thanks very much. That rose is spectacular at almost any stage of growth.
