Default Getting Started

I have a D7000 with a 85mm macro. See my first try. Please tell me how to improve, what I did wrong, pp & crop suggestions, ect.

Thanks.

G'day RLE

Nothing 'wrong' with these images - tho with experience you will discover many ways of fine-tuning macro pix to bring them up to the std seen with others here & elsewhere

I can't see any of the exif data so it's hard to give a 100% here but...
with image-1, I see lots of dappled sunlight and a bright object in the rear of the image,
and in image-2, I see lots of tiny flowers with exposure variations across the bunch

May I suggest you try
1) re-shoot #1 with Aperture variations at f22 > f11 > f5,6 and compare notes with the DoF, especially the background. This will give you a better idea of what small-medium-large DoF will do both for the primary subject & the background, and
2) re-shoot #2 using AEB bracketing: try -2/3EV & +2/3EV as your exposure limits. This will give you 3 pix, where the exposures will cover the highlighted petals to the shadows ... you can then choose which of the 3 best shows your concept of the flowers

Hope this helps a bit - pl come back with more Qs as they arise
Regards, Phil

Thanks Phil, I will try what you suggested.
I can't explain why the exif data is not there, I did not try to exclude it.

Thanks for reply!!
