Default a rose by any other name...

just a couple of roses from the botanical garden yesterday... the 100-400 is really handy for getting close-ups without having to step into the garden beds, and it produces wonderful bokeh at wide apertures!

5D2, 100-400L @ 400mm, 1/640 @ f/7.1

5D2, 100-400L @ 250mm, 1/6400 @ f/5.0, -1EV to keep the colors from washing out...

G'day Rocky

I would say 'top marks mate' ~ the composition & lighting is extremely good
ps- glad to see that you have discovered what superzoom users have known & enjoyed for years ... that the long-lens [10x to 20x in our case] is superb for this type of 'closeup'

Regards, Phil

thanks, Phil. actually, i used a "superzoom" for some time... a Panasonic FZ20. it's only in the last few years that i'd gotten in the habit of using my 24-135 on my 40D for flower shots... and that lens did some very nice work for me! but with the 5D2, the 100-400 seems to produce much better results...

Superb Photos Rocky! Absolutely Stunning! I really like the bokeh that lens produces and how tack sharp the photos are. Congrats!
