I took these last weekend. I wish the sun had been in a little better position for the first three pictures, but it was such a pretty butterfly I'm glad I took what I got, because I didn't see him come back later in the day. The other, smaller butterfly in the last picture nearly landed on me as I was taking thepictures of the butterfly in the first three pictures. I forget what this particular bush is called, but it attracts bees and butterflies like no other I've seen.

I really like #3. They seem like difficult photos to capture. The little critter is so dark, and the sky is so bright.

#2 looks more like a painting than like a photograph, which is probably why I like it the best. I think it would be better with a vertical crop. Would you be willing to give it a try and repost?

Suzan, how's this?

Darrell, yes, they definitely would have been easier to take later in the day. I have several from a different angle where the sun is so bright that you can see through it's wings.

Amy, thanks for the compliments! My mom calls this bush a butterfly bush, but I don't know if that's the proper name for it or not. I do know, though, that if you have one of these, you will definitely see butterflies, and quite a few of them at that. They seem to love this thing!
