Great shot but I strongly advise you to contact your local Department of Agriculture and report the sighting. Japanese Beetles do a tremendous amount of damage to crops and other plant life. In California, just about every other tree has a yellow beetle trap on it.

I always thought that Japanese beetles were yellow. Maybe I'm thinking of the traps. You might show that photo to the Dept. of Agriculture to confirm your identification.

calr, thanx!! it is definitely a Japanese beetle. i'm up here in Massachusetts and this was taken in Connecticut. i didn't know these were that much of a problem. as i mentioned in another post, grubex and diazinon takes care of the grubs and thus, erradicates the beetles. in sensitive areas i don't know what is used to kill them and the grubs. i'll ask around up here and see if the proper people need to be notified. thanx again!!!
