nice pic!!! not a dragonfly. i can't remember if it is an icheneuman (sp?) or something else. i'm sure someone will id it.

Chris, yes!!! it is an ant lion adult. i looked it up last night and that's the only critter like it in my book of insects and spiders.

hi i'm glad about this post i just got my first digital cam its a panisonic fx5 it takes great pic but any time i try to take a close up of a fly like what you did. it comes out all blury there is no way i can get close enough. what am i doing wrong is there any setting i have to use what should i look for in the manual? i'm a beginer so please guide me

See if your camra has a "macro" setting. The macro setting usually allows you to get within six inches of your subject. Without the macro setting, you need special lenses or filters to get that close.
