Default Crystal Angel

This is a macro shot of a laser cut floating image in a block of crystal. The "lights" were added later in Paint Shop.

I've already seen this version on DPR and I think it's much better. It's a stunning image.

Ok, you call yourself Artshot and you seem to be into this arty stuff. Are you some kind of professional artist or trained artist?

Thank you both. I'm a sculptor.

I'm totally new to photography though. I have been visiting both forums for feedback and guidance.

I found this forum first, and it's such a great service for someone like me starting out, or even more advanced users... The dpreview is great too. I think I would have just thrown my arms up in defeat without the tips and help from both places.

That explains a lot.

Should've looked at your profile. I get so used to people not putting anything there that I neglect to look.

Tried to look at your photos but they take so long to download with 56K. A photo of that size really needn't be over 60-100kb in size for web use.

Some people put the uncompressed file as an extra option to click on.

In PSP7 I set the compression to 25 after resizing to 800x600. This compresses them alot without degrading it too much.

I have so much to learn...
I have been using Sony Imagestation to hold most of my pics now, but you have to join to visit member pages. They do load faster and the thumbnails open a smaller version than the original. Don't worry though, you're not missing anything. If I have anything decent I'll post it here or on the dpreview forums.... or both

Thank you for the advice though... I may try to edit that aol page

Why, thank you Graham!
Now I have to actually learn a bit about photography, too...

So far I'm only able to be creative before and after the shot is taken. I'm still using my camera as a "point and shoot" without adjusting white balance, f-stops or anything else (other than switching to macro)

I look forward to seeing more of your wildlife posts this spring as well, as I have noticed your skills improving in the short time I have been a member here. It sure is nice to have a place like this to share with others, like a class that is available at whatever hours I can fit it in!
