Hi Shaun, I quite like your macro effort! The fact that the inside of the flower is a bit dark gives a nice, cozy feeling to it. I've tried many macro shots with my S2 but was not very successful. I found the S2AF in macro/super macro modes to be on the poor side. I might be wrongbut I think your result is as good as it gets with the S2, specially in super macro mode. The "parallel to the sensor" suggestion made by Nick is practically impossible to obtain in super macro. The problem is that in this mode, you need to bring the lens real close to the subject and unless you are photographing a flat subject, only the very center spotwill be on focus.

This is a good effort, Shaun. I see what Nick is saying about ways to improve the next time around, but I think you're on the way to doing some good macro work. This is a lovely flower.

Can you attach any accessory lenses, i.e., a closeup lens like the Nikon 4T, 5T, etc., to your camera? If so, this may be a solution toward helping you acquire the depth of field you want with such a close focus.
