I know not the best macro's in the world... but what are your thoughts?

The first is quite nice, you may want to crop that bit off the top in the BKG, I feel it causes a slight distraction.

The second the BKG is somewhat distracting from the subject.

Neat macros though. dp

Both images are so clear! Yet I'd also prefer the first one for its appealing mellowed red and the solid backgound.
Maybe you could crop a little from the top and allow a little to the bottom for aq few more complementary green leaves. Again, very well I think :-)

Great detail in this series. I didn't find the backdrop as distracting as others because of the blurred DOF, just personal thought.
