I thought i'd publish a little known fact about the Canon 1.4 teleconverter.

Please let me know if this was of use to you...

I bought the Canon 60mm EFS Macro lens, with true 1:1. Although not an L, i've been very impressed with it. And its dual feature of a number of people finding it an excellent Portrait lens, made it an interesting buy for me.

Anyway, with the 25mm extension tube attached, i've had some excellent results, to the point where i felt thelens alone with good, but with the tube making all the difference, but that said,i'd love to get get just a little bit closer...

I aquired a 1.4 teleconverter for my 70-200 L IS USM, and didn't expect to be able to connect the 60mm EFS to it. (Not on the list.)

However, did you know you can attach the 1.4 teleconverter to the extension tube, which then connects to the 60mm EFS Macro. No modifications to the pins, or anything required.

Having looked at the resulting pics, there is a slight loss of sharpness (but perhaps my manual focussing needs work) but the 1.4 not only offers a decent increase in magnification, but also allows me to work about 4 inches away from the subject at the same time.
