Default LCD Display Purchase Question

Im considering buying a new LCD monitor. I need a larger screen to be able to present more information.
I do a fair amount of photo work & watch DvDs on the computer so the question is, "do I need wide gamut?"

Some possibilities (from low to high) are:
- Viewsonic VP2365wb
- NEC EA231wmi
- HP ZR24w
- HP LP2475w (wide gamut)

The only monitor that is available locally is the Viewsonic.
The others would have to be purchased online and there are risks with doing that (difficult to exchange if there are issues such as unacceptable uniformities, dead/hot pixels, etc.). The Viewsonic is 16:9 whereas the others are 16:10 which I prefer (after all, it is a computer). All are IPS technology.

Anyway, is wide gamut a "got to have" or is could it turn out to be more trouble that it's worth as my uses/efforts are non-professional.

Thanks

Hi sdromel,

I went with the Viewsonic VP2365wb. To me that was a lot for a monitor and I just couldn't justify much more than that.

I got it online from BH for $285 on March 1 and have been happy with it since then.

Yes, on newegg, that LCD receives 5 stars average rating & everyone so far is satisfied with it. I think that my hesitation is that it is 16:9 screen format. (One of the reasons mentioned for a new monitor, remember, is to be able to get more info on the screen.)

Your input is appreciated & will certainly count toward my decision.
