Default Downloading & saving Youtube videos

For several months I've found that my computer would no longer save YouTube videos.

Now, at last a new (or at least new to me) way of doing it has shown up. It's a plug-in for Firefox with the unlikely-sounding name of UnPlug. I've found it very easy to use and it's free. If anybody's interested, just Google UnPlug.

I use Flashgot, which will grab most media files and store them to a designated folder. There are quite a few of these plugins, as far as I can tell, and they all seem to do the same thing.

Brian - your mention of Flashgot sounded interesting, so I tried it. But it didn't work. Maybe that was because I'm still resolutely using Windows 2000?

I am using a program called downloadyoutubevideo.exe and I all I need to do is copy the URl from my browser and then open the program click download video and it starts to download. It can download up to three at a time and have a list of 100s in waiting if you want to download that much.

I know this is an old thread, but I downloaded the free version of realplayer, and it allows me to "grab" videos and stores them to a download folder in My Videos. It also has an impressive number of file format converters. I use it to convert 3gp vid from my droid x to wmv.
