Default Flash drive rescue

This may be useful to some people.

My 8gb Verbatim Flash drive that plugs into a USB port stopped working recently.

When it was plugged in, Windows of various kinds from XP to Windows 8 recognised that it was present, but couldn't read it. They all offered to format it, but when I used their format commands, they all reported that formatting it, whether to FAT32 or to NTFS, was impossible.

I suspected that it became corrupted when I'd used it with Linux (Zorin 6.1 Lite), so as a last resort before dropping it in the garbage I tried to use it with Zorin. Zorin couldn't read it either.

However - when looking for the Zorin 'format' command I discovered that Zorin offered a choice of several different formats. The first one I tried was NTFS. It took about 15 seconds, but it worked!

Of course any files that had been stored on the drive were erased, but now the 8gb Verbatim flash drive is working fine.
