Default Picasa on Mackintosh

I've just tried out Picasa for the first time. It's running on a PC with Linux Mint 17 XFCE.

I was so impressed with it that I tried to install it on my Mac Mini - one of the earliest that has an Intel chip. It's running OS Tiger.

It turns out that the Mac Mini-Tiger setup can't run recent versions of Picasa, and it's been very difficult to find any version of Picasa that can be installed.

At last I've found that Picasa version 3 can be installed on the Mini - but Picasa 3 runs so poorly that trying to use it is a waste of time.

I can install Leopard on the Mini to replace Tiger, but is that going to be any better? Are there any versions of Picasa and Mac that work well together?

Good news (I think). Maybe I'd installed a wrong version of Picasa on my Mac mini, but today I installed version 3.8.5.326 of Picasa on it and (so far) it seems to be working just fine.
