I was just wondering why the sample images provided in the Canon 40D's review looked so much blurrier than images taken with other cameras including the cheaper Canon Digital Rebel's? Is that the way 40D is?

Thank you for your help!

I would suspect that it was the lens causing the softness you are seeing along the edges of some of our sample images. It's not the camera itself.

While using the Canon 50D, I noticed some edge softness when shooting with the EF 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens. However when I would shot the same subject, under the same conditions, with the Same camera settings, using a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, the softness was gone.

There are several factors that also contribute to this, like aperture for instance.
