How are you searching? If you use the Search menu choice at the top of each page, and enter in search criteria, you'll see a search ID assigned in the address for the results. For example, this is a search for the lens is the thing (and if you click on one of the threads found, you'll see that the matching words [highlighted] are from post text matches.

At the very top of each and every page, right below the banner links for KNOWLEDGE CENTER, NEWSLETTER and EXTRAS, there's a SEARCH edit box. That's how I'm searching.

OK... That's an entire site search (versus the search engine specific to the forums). So, it may not be excluding signatures.
If you use the Search menu choice instead (which uses the forum search engine), signatures should be excluded from searches. |

Ok, but that's only one reason to have a Gear tab on the Member Profile page. Another would be that members could have a specific place to list the gear they have (and have had), and others would have a consistant place to go to see what gear they have (and have had.)

It looks like vBulletin may have an easy way to add custom fields to the profile that could be used for equipment. So, I'll bring it up when discussing forum improvements (even though I'm not particularly fond of that kind of thing, some members may like to see what equipment others have if they want to share that info).
