Default Questions on Casio Exilim EX-S5 Camera

I am currently interested in acquiring the Casio EX-S5 camera, which is one of your recommended cameras for under $150 USD.

Although my preference is to buy the Canon SD780IS or the CoolPix S570, and due to the economic recession, I would consider buying a couple of the EX-S5 cameras as Xmas gifts instead of one of the Canonís or Nikons.

CNET REVIEWS provide an overall good review for the camera, but cite an extremely long shutter lag as the only "BAD" issue:

"From power on to first shot takes an OK 2.5 seconds and that's the average time you'll be waiting between shots, too. Turning on the flash drives that time out to 3.1 seconds. However, while some people don't mind waiting a couple seconds between shots, the S5's lengthy 1-second shutter lag in bright light and 1.2 seconds in dim is a real damper."

I have personally not seen this camera or used it. If I purchase these cameras, they would typically be used for taking everyday pictures. Nothing fancy.
I have not use a point and shoot camera in a long time. I own a Digital Rebel XT and a SLR Rebel XT. My question for you (and other members) is whether the shutter lag would be a huge issue and the users be extremely disappointed with this gift.

well, for these cheaper camera's that kind of performance is pretty common. The Casio is pretty well specced out though, offering HD video and quite a few good features.
