Has anyone tried digital photography using a spotting scope? Any recommendation / advise? This would be mostly for still wildlife photography.

I presently own the Nikon D40 and Nikon D80 bodies.

Nikon Fieldscope 82 and adapter works to 1500 mm with crop factor. A little pricey, and limited to f13, but does a good job in decent light.

Few cameras work well for digiscoping. Do not mess with the SLR, too heavy and attachments too costly. Spend $99 for a new Canon A-590. Satisfactory spotting scopes are now available for $500, just get an 80mm ED unit. You would be better off if you can find one to use Astro type eyepieces, such as the top threaded Hyperions.
