Default What do you put your scope on?

So I was wondering what type of tripod head people prefer for a spotting scope. I know people extol the virtues of ball heads for long camera lenses... do they also work well on a spotting scope? I'm specifically thinking about a Swarovski 80mm, but I'm interested in other comparable sized scopes.

I use Gitzo 1348 tripod and Manfrotto 393 long-lens head. I found it extremely versatile, and the tripod+head weight is approximately 3 kg only.
