Wow! I hope that turns out to be wrong. I'm not yet a Nikon person, but I was under the impression that there were a lot of lens accessories available for the Coolpixes. I wonder why they would want to exclude this camera from using them?
I glued a 77/72 step ring on to the front of my B-300 to make it threaded for filters and a rubber hood, but that's not quite the same thing. I'm not in a financial position to buy a camera exclusively for digiscoping, but the SQ looked like it had good possibilities for both digiscoping and a carry anywhere general use type thing.

I think the sq is aimed at the point and shoot crowd, so that maybe why the lens isn't threaded(still not sure on this), it doesn't seem to have any manual features like shutter priority or apeture priority either.

I can't afford the 4500 but i was wondering if the 4300 would be any good for digiscoping add-on lenses etc. Is the 4300 lense able to take everything the 4500, or is it limited or unable to use these advanced attachments at all?
