An old Austin taxi cab spotted at the Barrett Jackson auction here in Orange County, Calif. this past weekend. More of my car photos (and other subjects) at www.pbase.com/gwcoles

Bring back some memories to me. It was the first mom's car. I guess my father bought it used, but don't know really. Curious that we had Austins in Argentina, tho. A really nice small and solid car.

I first thought it was from the early 1940s from the design, but it is a 1958 Austin FX3. It sold at the auction for $9,350 which, IMO, is a fairly low price for a unique vehicle in this condition.

Here is another ancient, well kept, little Austin.

It looks to be in lovely condition. Thanks for sharing those 2 shots. I've seen several Austins over here on this side of "the pond" that have been "souped up" with large V-8 engines and large tires.
