Default Paperweight

After months of not touching my camera, I cant leave the thing alone now. This sight has reawakened the creative streak in me, so heres a couple of "snaps" I've been messing with today:

Balanced on top of an LED torch and messed about with in Corel Photoshop.

Close up of same paperweight looking up towards the light.
Constructive criticism please!

The first on looks like a 3D creation to me. Not a photograph - that's all I have to say.
The second one look like a mix of...well I dont know!

Both images has excellent colorchoice though! Exiting!

Cant seem to work out from your first comment if thats a bad thing or not, I was experimenting. The only changes made in Corel photopaint were "lens flare" and "directional sharpen".

Well - if you like them - nothing else matters. The technical quality is fine - but the overall impression of the shot is not in my taste. But you cant really use this as a critique cant you?

As this IMO has nothing to do with a photograph, I cant say anything more, than already said. I'm sorry!

Isn't that the point of a Digital art (modified digicam images) section.
I took a photo and modified it.
I apreciate your feedback and your point of view.

Hey Budgie,

I like them, the second one makes me think of some road through the universe type thing!!! But maybe thats more 20 years of pubbing and not the pic! You are a little like me, think of something put it together, experimenting with things and playing in photoshop. I spent hours in the darkroom as a 14 year old and PS is just the new way. The first pic isnt dissimilar to something that may be used in ads of some sort.

My only "honest" criticism of the first, is that the object is leaning slightly to the left.......

Its funny what you said about this site. I hadnt had an SLR for 7 years or so, and this really motivated me to spend the baby´s school fund on an EOS-10d ops:

Hadn't noticed that, on closer inspection the paperweight isn't perfectly egg shaped (artists always blame the tools! lol).
The flare from the bottom could have done with being a more equal too. But hey, none of us are perfect and its all a learning curve, (just looks a little steeper when viewed from the bottom) .
Thanks for the constructive criticism though
