Just a little constructive criticism here: since the girl farthest away isn't in focus, I think the blend would work better if her edges were softened slightly, taking away the cut-out look. Other than that one small detail, you did a tremendous job.

Thanks, Barbara!

What's the best tool to do the blend? I'm a PS Elements newbie...

thanks,
john

Do you have a blur tool in PE? It might be coupled in the tool palette with the sharpen tool. If you do, it probably has the same icon as in Photoshop--a water drop. You can set it to a small size so you're blurring hardly more than just the edge of the girl. You might have to experiment with its opacity since this is very dependent on both the resolution of the photo and the kind of effect you want.

If you don't have the blur tool, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe someone else who uses Elements can help.

Yep, got the blur tool... I'll give it a whirl! Thanks again! (see what I get for not sticking in the "Sports & Action"! )

Excellent! And because I was here giving you the blur suggestion, it popped right into my mind a half hour later when I was trying to solve a bit of a fringing problem. Glad I was able to help (we hope).

Nicely Patriotic. I like the arangement of the text to balance with the trio of girls. One thing distracts me however. The white line on the left that acts as the pole. It adds a little snag in the over all flow of the picture. Perhaps removing it... or enlarging the flag so that it ends the picture.

Also try a simple square around as a border. Not against the edge but maybe 1/2 an inch away and maybe 3 to 5 pixels thick.
