Not sure whether this belongs in here or in the Architectural forum...

I've been playing with this technique for a while.

Original:

Result:

First, the perspective was corrected and the picture cropped. Then I opened the pic in Paintshop Pro and used Buzz simplifier to reduce the tonal complexity. Meanwhile, I opened another copy in Photofiltre and used the Photocopy filter (fabulous!) to produce a black and white line version. The amount of detail in this is easily controlled by adjusting the brightness and contrast of the original before applying the filter.

Next, the photocopy version was dropped on to the buzzed version as a new layer and the blend mode set to Darken. Finally a little work with curves and some serious USM.

It's not supposed to look like a "painterly" effect. I'm more interested in digital effects in their own right. What do you think?

Here's one more using the same technique:

Not too keen on the first picture, purely because the subject doesn't do much for me, but the second one is fantastic. Nice technique, very artistic result.

Nice work, fenlander !

Maybe the last one could be a great work in black and white as well !

I like them both; however, for me, the sky was so bright in the second pic (or maybe it was the color of the sky) that my eye was drawn to it rather than into the scene. It's some wonderful work though.
