Herb, I believe you're just speaking Jabberwocky! Really, a nice work of art. Lewis Carroll would have been pleased. :-)Are these the tumtum trees and are you sitting awhile in thought?

You're the first person to recognise the source. The folks on the Garden Web have (so far) been mystified!

If a a Tumtum tree's the same thing as our neighbours' Lavatera, then the answer's Yes! I saw it lit up by the morning sun at breafast time & the twisting branches & twigs put me in mind of gyring and gimboling.

I tried all sort of effects on it - sepia, plain black & white - and eventually fiddled with the colors & contrast and so forth & ended up with this. I wanted to make the top left hand corner look like the moon shining through tall trees, but failed.

You did a fantastic job all the way around. And those who are missing the gist are missing some of the best writing! I memorized this poem when I was 14, so enthralled by it was I. Sadly, I haven't retained it all. :-)

Monkey143 - If you memorised the whole lot, you did better than I did! I only retain the first two lines....

The whole thing's here -

Thanks, Herb! I'll have to re-memorize it. It really freaks people out when you recite it. (j/k - I don't do that randomly). :-)
