This is a composite of two photos. The base image is one of about a hundred out of focus or blurred shots I took of the eclipse while I was trying out my brandnew D70 in the dark. :roll:

I used the background eraser in Paint Shop Pro but there are other ways to do it... you could select the blue sky, for example, and make it transparent. Then I pasted the cut-out heron as a layer over the moon picture and moved it into place. I placed a middle gray layer (R128,G128,B128 on top and adjusted the opacity until it looked "just right". Then, merge all layers and export as .jpg.

I saved the heron silhouette. As you can see from the gallery, he gets around. :-)
