Here is a pic that I had to put together for my University course in digital imaging.

Basically it is a collage of a heap of shots that I have taken with my camera.

Hope you like it, as per usual feel free to comment. Oh and no the moon wasn't one of my shots

Ollie

it looks good apart from the tree and the object to the left look to just be placed there. they need to share same tonal qualities of the rocks they are standing on

G'day,

thanks for the comment. I think I know what you are getting at and I understand that I should probably much around a tad with the tree a bit more. The rock on the left however if you look closely you will notice they are a bit brighter than those on the right due to the light eminating from the light there. Although having said that maybe a tad more illumination onto those rocks wouldn't hurt.

The main objective of the collage for me though was contrasting themes from around Hobart. The sunset is actually taken from facing west not east as the city below is and the rocks were taken. The moon is usually over to the left not the right and the there is not water up on top of the mountain. The mountain of course being My Wellington here in Hobart.

The original pano shot of Hobart was 8pics pieced together. The PS file by the time I finished with it was 238meg in size. So alot of high res pics were used in the process. Also and not to take away from thing that still need touching up, it was done in 3 hours.

Anyway post more comments. All are welcome

Ollie

I think it looks pretty dang cool. Don't much mind the "placed" look of the tree and the other structure -- after all, it isn't supposed to look real.

I wonder how it would look with another contrasting object below and to the right of the tree? That would make a sort of triangle with the moon and the bright "tower". Just imagining it, I think that it might work compositionally.

This is awesome, Ollie! I really like it!

What software did you use to create this collage?

G'day guys,ok thanks firstly for the comments. The actual placement of the tree to look like it was placed was done on purpose. As mentioned it isn't meant to look entirely real. If you ever get to go up to the top of Mt Wellington then you could imagine the whole scene working, all bar the sunset on the wrong side of the planet. I actually had in mind the idea of "a rich man living up on the mountain with his own private pond/lake and a tree for shade" when I was putting together all the elements to the picture. All work was done using PhotoshopCS2 and the end file before being flattened was a nice 238meg. 25meg when it was finally flattened and just over a meg once it was formatted as a jpg. There are a few more things as I said that I want to do with it but for now I like it. I even printed it out on A3 size and some dude who works near umy girlfriends place took a copy to put on his wall So can't really beat that.Ollie

Your collage reminds me of Roger Dean's art work for some ofYes (the band) album covers. It has a surrealistic look to it anda group of colors and textures that go very well together.
