I'm almost afraid to post this after seeing the thread about Traditional Art vs. Digital Art! :?

I'm a classically trained pianist, so I'm well-acquainted with the arguments about traditional music vs. electronic music, etc., ad nauseum. I mean no disrespect to traditional paint & canvas, chisel & marble or any other artists. The image I am attaching is my attempt to imitate the Impressionist style of painting (which was accompanied by a similar trend in music, with very interesting sonic results!). My reason for doing so is that I love Impressionist art, especially the work of Monet. I thought the water patterns and colors in this photo lent themselves nicely to such treatment.

Hi Ladyhawk, I like this very much! I love Monet's work also, I think art is art and it comes form the mind of the artist no matter what medium they use.

Nicely done, LadyHawk. Don't care much for the framing, tho.

Yes, I think that's better. Now that I look again I also think that the darker water on the left pulls the eye away from the subject. You might try cropping most of that out and see what you think.

Walter:

Here is a cropped version, per your suggestion.

I like the cropped version best. I think the impressionist effect was applied with a good eye and restraint, and works very well.

Let the art snobs worry about whether or not it's "proper."

I could probably stand to see a bit heavier treatment. Maybe it's just my small monitor, but the effect seems a bit subdued.

Just don't let Stitchbabe put a Canadian flag on this one.:-)
