The Innovage Mini Digital Camera that you purchased at Walgreen's has a foolish design flaw. In their passion to produce a small camera, they designed the camera case to house only one AAA battery. It actually requires two AAA batteries to work properly.

One AAA alkaline battery will take pictures, for a short while, but the camera will never, ever, function as a webcam with only one AAA battery. That will require between 2.4 to 3 volts of dc current, even though the camera draws on the computer's USB power. But, for a hacker, the problem is easily fixed by soldering in a Radio Shack AAA battery holder that holds two batteries.

But the general Walgreen's consumer has a genuine beef.

I hack digital cameras as a hobby and am quite fond of my Innovage camera -also purchased from Walgreen's.But I am a little disappointed that my radio-controlled model paraplane needs to loft that additional battery for aerial photos and video clips.

The Innovage problem was probably the classic result of the Innovage technicians losing out to the Innovagemarketing people.
