I recently purchased a Minolta Dimage7camera on ebay but it didn't come with the originalinstallation cd. Can anyone help me? I don't even know what was on the original cd. The Minolta site wasn't much help, all they had was updates to the originals. Any and all assistance will be appreciated!

I dont know what was on the cd, but most likely its nothing that you need (or even want) I have yet to use an install cd for any elevtronic product I have bought. If its drivers you need they are on the site (drivers so you can transfer photos off the cam over usb) though windows xp/2000 dont need them.

There is usually some lame editing software on the cd (get photoshop/or elements) or if you want free and powerful get Gimp. Picasa2 is also free and good at basic tasks like sharpening/hue/brightness and wonderful at organising.

I wouldnt waste your time looking for a cd.

Bob;

If you want to give it a try, I believe the DiMage software which is available form the Minolta site is a full install, even though it is listed as an update. As TechTigger says, you shouldn't need anything other than windows O/S to get pictures into the computer. If you are planning to shoot RAW, you may want to try out Irfanview or Raw Shooter Essentials.

Thanks Brian.

As it turns out, the lady who sold it ot me sent the wrong cable, so I couldn't download direct for the camera. I have downloaded thanks to a friend who had a compact flash card-reader for sale cheap!

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"As thedownloads available on the Minolta site, I have tried them, but unless you havethe original resident on your machine, it won't let you intall (both the firmware and the viewer upgradeupdates).
