I'm new to the dye sub printer world and need to get a photo printer with a matte finish. Do all dye sub printers have this option? I can only find the Epson Picturemate with a matte photo paper option.

Any help please!! Thanks!

I have a Kodak 1400 that does matte finish. It also does up to 8x12 prints. The main dowfall to this printer is that it only takes 8.5x12 or 8.5x14 paper so you have to do a lot of cutting if you print 4x6s.

The Kodak 1400 is one of the very few choices you have. It will provide you with multiple sizes that can be printed in both gloss and matte finishes. One down side, at least for me, is that there is a small white border around the live area. That is, the live area does not bleed to the edges. Moreover, the per page cost is relatively high when compared to, say, the Shinko. The printing quality, however, is superb.*Good luck.
